The best times to get pregnant fast and to conceive are the 4-5 days prior to ovulation, and the day you ovulate. Making love after ovulation or more than 5 days before ovulation won’t get you pregnant.

There are several methods you can use to predict ovulation. Some of the most effective ways to know you are ready to conceive can be found by paying attention to the clues your body is giving you.

    When Does Ovulation Normally Occur?
The time of ovulation for every woman is different. It is commonly offered that ovulation occurs around the 2 week mark after the end of a woman’s last menstrual cycle but it can happen on many different days. The more accurate way to calculate ovulation on a calendar would be between the 12th and 16th day before your next menstrual cycle is set to begin. These calculations are based upon a woman who experiences regular menstrual cycles between 28 and 32 days apart.

    Cervix and Cervical Mucus
Your cervix and cervical mucus change during ovulation. While it is more difficult for you to evaluate the changes your cervix is undergoing it is quite easy to monitor the changes of the cervical mucus. Prior to ovulation there will be almost no cervical discharge, during this time it is very unlikely that you will be able to conceive.

    How to get pregnant fast
When you are getting close to ovulating your cervical mucus will be sticky and white but it will break apart easily. It is at this time that your chances for conceiving begin to increase. Around the time of ovulation the mucous will have the consistency of raw egg whites and will be at its’ thinnest and most elastic. During this time it is easier for the sperm to survive and the chance of conception is still high. After ovulation the mucus will revert back to a sticky but non elastic stage and again the chances of conception are markedly decreased.

    Fertility Signs
There are other fertility signs that you should pay attention to as well. Many women notice lower abdominal pain around the time they ovulate. If you monitor this from month to month you can use these pains as an indication that you are ovulating.

Another way to chart your ovulation is by checking your temperature every morning prior to getting out of bed. When your temperature starts to go up you will know that your body is ovulating and your chances of conception are good.

    Why is Ovulation So Important?
Ovulation is the time when the mature egg is released from the ovary. During the following 12 to 24 hours the egg is alive and ready to be fertilized. But sperms have to be there already to fertilize the egg. If no sperms are there then fertilization cannot happen. If the egg is not fertilized during this time the egg will die and be absorbed by the endometrial lining of the uterus only to be flushed out of the body during the next menstrual cycle.

Learning about the female body and when the optimal times are for egg fertilization will help to increase fertility and chance of conceiving a baby. Ovulation is the key to egg fertilization.
