Confessions of a Fat Girl 70: Life Reflections!

96.6kg!

I couldn’t have woken up to a better number, this morning! Even though I hadn’t deliberately done anything to watch my diet, I guess all the stress from the funeral, the running up and down, and not to mention giving myself a migraine over Ogonna’s love triangle situation, was enough to melt a sexy 3.7kg off me! Get in!

I was on such a high, as I prepared for the school run, until my phone beeped, with a text message from Chidera.

Are you back? was what it read.

I hissed, and deleted the message. Chidera! If she weren’t my flesh and blood, I would have cut her off permanently. I am so disappointed in her behavior, that I truly have no words. I am so disappointed with the way she left Enugu, unceremoniously, without a word to anyone, the very morning after we got there. Apparently, she had been upset with the way I’d spoken to her. So, she had left. My cousin, who had accompanied us to Enugu to ‘support’ us, had bailed on us because I had called her out for trying to be catalyst to the further division of my family, instead of helping us foster our reconciliation. To be honest, I hadn’t even noticed her absence till after the wake keeping, when I found myself alone in the guest room. Chidera and her siblings had a text book perfect relationship with their parents…the kind of relationship I envied. I can not count how many times I watched her with Uncle Osita, and wished he was my father as well. And now, we had a chance to have the same thing, but there she had been, trying to thwart it! No. I’m so very disappointed, and it will take a long long time for me to get over it.

I held on to my anger, and took it straight to the gym with me. There is no better work out buddy than a little bit of rage. No trainer can make you pump those machines as well as having a little bee in your bonnet. And pump the machines I did…for all 125 minutes I spent there.

Getting back home, I made myself a pineapple and banana smoothie, and curled up on my sofa, to watch some TV. It actually felt good to just kick back and relax…for once! But even though my eyes were watching Red Carpet shows on E!, my mind was racing with a number of things…and reflections!

I thought about my shop, and wondered if it was worth me keeping it open, considering its modest profit margins. A few months ago, those margins would have been enough for me, but seeing how much money Ezioma and I had made from our luxury hampers, and how those margins had dwarfed anything I have ever made at the shop, I have started wondering if it is worth my while keeping it open.

I thought about how Ezioma and I need to sit down, and make our plans for the rest of the year. With Valentines day out of the way, and Christmas about 10 months away, we need to figure out what we will do to fill that gap, and get on it fast!

I thought about my weight. Even though I am so happy to be back on track with the weight loss, now that I have seen how easy it is to fall off the wagon, I have to be on extra alert not to make the same mistake again. More than a few people wondered if I was older than, not only Akwaugo, but Ogonna as well…a 43 year old woman! At my tender 37 (okay, 38 in a few months) years of age, that was a major indictment! And I know it’s because I am so much larger than both of them. Nah…I definitely have to work on that!

And I thought of Ogonna…my dear sister, Ogonna…the closest thing I have ever had to a mother figure…and how this thing called love turned her into a start struck teenager. I thought about the decision she has made, and, once again, prayed that she hasn’t made a mistake. Since I got home, I have Googled Ifeanyi almost 100 times, hoping to find some dirt on him, but all I have found just supports everything we have heard about him…extremely successful and a passionate philanthropist. Okay oh! Digging a little deeper, I even found a picture of his late wife, and it sent chills down my spine. The woman, Ukachi was her name, looked so much like Ogonna, it was almost spooky. It’s either he seriously has a type, or that he looked for the next best thing, since he couldn’t have his first choice. Hmm. Interesting.

I can’t way to see how things unfold…with everything!
