Not everyone is going to do a Kate Middleton by announcing their pregnancy, like she has done for the last three times, due to severe morning sickness, called hyperemesis gravidarum, which meant she couldn’t carry out her royal duties.
I’m almost certain that if it had not been the fact that she was a public figure, and the reason for her whereabouts needed to be given, as per civilised folks that they are, the public wouldn’t know she was pregnant.
And with her physique, she can conveniently keep everyone guessing till she pops the baby.
While Kate Middleton is open about her pregnancy, including releasing the due date, some celebrities do all within their power to hide their pregnancies. Even when it becomes obvious, they just refuse to talk about it. And you know what? There is nothing wrong with that. Pregnancy, though very obvious, is still personal business.
Not to put them on the spot, this article will share some of the celebrities who hid, and who are hiding, their pregnancies. Perhaps one can learn a trick or two on how to keep out the nosy folks.
- Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Queen of stealth herself, celebrated Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie left many open-mouthed when this quote surfaced; “This is the first time I’m saying it publicly. I have a little girl. I have some friends who probably don’t know I was pregnant or that I had a baby. I just feel like we live in an age when women are supposed to perform pregnancy. We don’t expect fathers to perform fatherhood. I went into hiding. I wanted it to be as personal as possible”
Mehn! She can teach us all a lesson about how to close ranks. Till date, not one picture of her baby girl has been seen. What am I even talking? We don’t even know her birthday.
One thing though, she is going to learn feminism from the best.
