Amy Smart and her husband Carter Oosterhouse became parents the day after Christmas with the arrival of baby daughter Flora.
Now, four weeks later, the actress, 40, has taken to social media to publicly thank the woman who carried her child for her.
‘One month ago today, Dec. 26th our amazing beautiful daughter came into this world,’ Amy wrote on Instagram alongside a sweet photo of herself and Flora.
‘Feeling so grateful to have her in my arms… after years of fertility struggles I give thanks today to our kind, loving surrogate for carrying her.’
In the snap, the make-up free star of The Butterfly Effect and Varsity Blues stares straight into the camera wearing a navy sweater and with her blonde hair tied back into a ponytail.
Her baby girl also gazes at the lens wearing a pretty pink patterned romper. She is wide-eyed and has a crop of brown hair.
