Cold hands and feet: Some people have icy hands and feet and ignore it just by saying they are cold all the time. Cold extremities is one of the signs of underactive thyroid gland, hence ti is recommended to get tested for thyroid hormones to detect the condition at the earliest. Under active thyroid, commonly known as hypothyroidism causes irregular ovulation, irregular menstrual cycle and infertility. In addition to this, do look out for symptoms such as constipation, forgetfulness, dry skin and being unusually tired always, as these also indicate low levels of thyroid hormones.
Leaking nipples: When not pregnant or breastfeeding, there should be no secretions from the nipples. If you have hyperprolactinemia (raised prolactin hormone ), the nipples will leak fluid or even milk. Raised prolactin hormone suppresses ovulation and can cause infertility. Hence, if you have this symptom, consult your gynaecologist immediately. A simple blood test can help detect high levels of prolactin in the blood. If tested positive, it can be treated with medications (in most cases).
Growth of facial hair or excessive acne: Hair growth in places where a woman will generally not have hair is a sign of PCOS. Not only this, even sudden bursting of acne all over the face, neck and back could be a sign of hormonal imbalance. It happens because male hormone (androgens) levels increase and hormones are deranged, which suppresses ovulation and causes infertility. So do not ignore these symptoms but do visit your doctor to know the cause of it. Here are tests to check for infertility in women.
